Zhejing University is located in the coastal city Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, which lies 180 km away from Shanghai, a metropolitan city in the southeast of China.
Approved by the State Council, Zhejiang University was founded 1998 of the amalgamation of four former individual universities, namely Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University.
With six campuses,namely Yuquan, Xixi, Huajiachi, Hubin, Zhejiang, and Zijingang, Zhejiang University has a total area of 533 hectares and a floor space of 2,010,000 square meters
