Who can apply?

• Native speakers of English. (UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and RSA)
• Candidates with teacher training and or experience in Education will be given preference.
• Candidates without experience will be considered on their individual merits and experience with preference given to those who apply for 12 month contracts.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• All candidates should have good health.
• The acceptable age range from 23 - 55 years though applicants outside of this age range can apply and will be viewed on individual merit.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Are genuinely interested in teaching in China and making a difference.
• Recommended:
  • Teaching qualifications and/or
  • Previous teaching experience and/or
  • Previous work experience in a business environment and/or
  • Previous travel experience and confidence in adapting to foreign cultures and customs and/or
  • A proven ability to adapt and an understanding of new environments and multi cultural working situations

Real Life English training centres specialize in teaching English as a foreign language to Chinese people. All our training centres are well equipped with excellent modern teaching facilities. The classrooms are clean and spacious and designed to create a comfortable teaching and learning environment.

Employee benefits

All successful applicants are guaranteed a paid teaching position in Beijing, with a remuneration package which includes salary and accommodation as well as other benefits and support features.

A search of Beijing’s many English training schools will show salaries range between 3000 – 6500 RMB monthly for first year teachers. World Link Education offers a complete package over and above the base salary figure that other English Schools cannot match.

In addition to excellent accommodation, pre-paid flights (for 12 month contracts only), International health insurance, continual visa support and many other bonuses including monthly free trips and restaurant meals you will receive a tax-free salary of RMB 4,000 a month that is yours to spend as you wish.

Included in our package is constant 7 day a week support in all facets of your daily life in China, from opening bank accounts and obtaining local mobile phone numbers, to contacting home to medical support. Your accommodation will be of a standard second to none. We guarantee to make your transition to life in China as easy and as smooth as possible.

Initial 1 year teachers who elect to remain on and extend their contract for a second year will receive an enhanced salary of 5000 RMB per month with accommodation or 7000 RMB without enabling you to make a personal choice in regards to your living arrangements. Full support continues regardless of which 2nd year package you choose. Plus additional training and opportunities for career growth within the organization.

As stated, the accommodation offered by World Link Education is second to none. Before you arrive each apartment is inspected by World Link Educations onsite Accommodations Officer to ensure that they are clean, comfortable and ready for you to move into. You will be placed in a fully furnished same sex shared apartment with someone of a similar age. All apartments are furnished to a high western standard and contain everything that you will need to make you feel at home - from a washing machine to TV and DVD player. The only thing you need to bring with you is a towel and your personal clothes and belongings. Broadband internet is also available on request which currently costs 99RMB per month (45 RMB per person if in a share house where 2 people require internet).

Our care starts from the day you are accepted into the Teach In China Program. Before you have left your home country you will be contacted by one of our existing teachers who will be your “buddy” teacher and who will be happy to answer any questions you may have and advise you on the do’s and don’t of Beijing life. Our experienced Director of Studies will also clarify any points that you are unsure of and will be your mentor before, during and after your time teaching in China.

Weekly workshops on teaching in China are held by experienced and qualified TEFL teaching professionals, enabling you to give and receive the very best from your time in China. These workshops are designed to improve and enhance your teaching skills and awareness of the difficulties experienced by Chinese learners of English. Ongoing peer support and mentoring will be a feature of your time here, exposing you to a myriad of teaching techniques and styles allowing you to continually enhance and develop your skills as a teacher.

Upon your arrival in Beijing you will be given an extensive orientation session on not only living, working and teaching in a cross cultural environment but also on individual matters such as banking, health care, transport, and local food starting with a welcome lunch so that, in an informal setting, you will be able to ask questions and receive answers. In advance of your arrival you will be sent a handbook full of essential information that will help you make the transition from home to your new and exciting life. Within 48 hours of your arrival you will be given a guided tour of RLE and its facilities and escorted to a visit of the local International SOS Clinic, though should you need medical assistance prior to that we will be there for you by making sure that you have all necessary contact telephone numbers on arrival.

All Candidates will be given a TEFL orientation upon arrival as well as continuing workshops, mentoring and peer observations throughout their time in the program.

Our schools boast fully equipped Teacher's Centres providing free computer and Internet access, plus a reference library of English publications, textbooks, teaching support materials and useful classroom realia.

Participants are not required to have any previous knowledge of the Chinese language. As part of our “Real Life English” language learning concept teachers are encouraged to use only English in the classroom and students are encouraged to use English in and out of the classroom at every opportunity. We offer 6 hours of optional free classes on ‘survival Mandarin' each week, which are taught by qualified and experienced native speaking Chinese teachers. Classes are held at World Link Education’s language training centres. You will be taught practical Chinese including phrases and words commonly used in daily life. Textbooks are supplied at no additional cost. Total Beginner to Advanced levels are available.

Free guided tours are held once a month for you to discover the city's major historical and cultural attractions, including the Great Wall, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Lama Temple, Tiananmen Square, and the Forbidden City. Admission, transportation and English speaking guides are provided at no extra cost. These tours provide an opportunity for you to deepen your knowledge of China's rich history and cultural heritage.

Learn about Chinese art and culture through a series of introductory workshops on Chinese Calligraphy, Traditional Chinese Massage and Medicine, Chinese Painting, Chinese Songs or Taichi. Workshops are taught by experienced and qualified instructors. Materials and handouts are supplied.

A wide range of activities are organized throughout the program including a welcome lunch, Peking Duck feast, bowling night, karaoke, basketball, and other events. A Real Life English dinner and social evening is held twice a month. These social events and dinners are provided free. WLE dinners for all staff are held at major Chinese holidays.

For peace of mind, you are provided with Emergency Travel and Medical Insurance to cover any unforeseen medical circumstances.

Designed to complement your insurance, you will be a member of International SOS and have access to one of Beijing's leading foreign medical providers that offers western standard 24 hour alarm centres in China staffed by international English speaking doctors and medical staff.

WLE's professional international teaching staff, with years of experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language, provide ongoing mentoring supervision and support. Further, you will be assisted by our Administrative Support staff who are available for information, advice and assistance throughout the program.

Successful applicants will be provided with all support documents required by the Ministry of Education and the Consulate or Embassy of People's Republic of China. Should your visa require extension during your stay this will be taken care of by our local staff at no extra cost to yourself.

Teachers selected for 1 year placements will be provided with a pre paid return airfare from their nearest capital city to Beijing. 1 year teachers electing to extend their contracts for a further year will be provided with an additional return airfare at the midway point of their tenure allowing them leave in their home country.

You will be met at the airport by one of our friendly staff and transported to your accommodation where you will be contacted by your assigned “buddy teacher” who will make sure that you have everything you need.

A formal certificate will be awarded upon completion of the program. The certificate will confirm that you have successfully completed the program and record details such as the duration, program dates, teaching hours and host institution. A letter of reference will also be supplied on request.

The standard workload consists of up to 25 hours of class instruction in one working week. The school is open seven days a week and work hours are 14.00 to 21.30 Mondays to Fridays and 10.00 to 18.00 Saturdays and Sunday. Remaining hours are devoted to class preparation, training workshops, assessment, student excursions, extra-curricular activities and faculty meetings. During this time two consecutive days will be allotted as a ‘weekend’ but these may not be on Saturday or Sunday Any time worked over the base 40 hours will be given as Time Off in Lieu
